Barbara Knight

Mrs. Barbara Knight (nee Carothers) passed away peacefully at Sunset Manor, Innisfail, Alberta on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the age of 99 years. Barbara was born in Carseland, Alberta on January 11, 1921, and raised in DeWinton, Alberta. She attended Henderson College of Business in Calgary, and worked at the No. 2 Wireless School in Calgary. After the war, she met and married the love of her life, Dr. Douglas Knight on July 2, 1948. Robert was born in 1950, and Gregg in 1952. Sadly, Doug passed away shortly after Gregg’s birth on July 28, 1952. After a brief hiatus, Barbara had to support her family and went to work at Union Packing, until it closed. She then worked for Canada Safeway, as an Executive Secretary. Upon her retirement, she moved to Red Deer. Barbara adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel, read and do puzzles. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert (Marion) and Gregg (Geri); her grandchildren, Kevin (Leslie), Erin (Brian), Tyler and Kris (Tyara); and her great grandchildren, Marshall, Jacob, Zackery, Jorden, Landon, Taytum and Keira. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Jim (Lee). Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Douglas; her brothers, Joe and Keith and her sisters, Chrissy, Virginia and Anna. Her family would like to thank all the Health Care Workers and Staff at Sunset Manor, Innisfail, who did so much for Barbara. If desired, Memorial Donations in Barbara’s honor may be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
