Edith Richards

Richards, Edith 1920-2016 Mrs. Edith Richards passed away peacefully at Rosefield Center in Innisfail on Tuesday, January 26th at the age of 95 years. Edith was born at Pine Lake on February 13th, 1920 to Fred and Elsie Sawyer. As a young woman she worked at the Pine Lake Store and for the Pope family. She later worked many years at the Innisfail Auction Market. In 1945 she married Leonard Richards and had two children, Hazel and Fred. She lived on the Richards farm until 1980 when she moved to Innisfail. Edith was very active in both the communities of Pine Lake and Innisfail. She was a member of the Glenellen Ladies Club, Innisfail Legion Ladies Auxillary, Holy Trinity Church in Pine Lake and St. Mark's Anglican Church in Innisfail. Edith always had a large garden and loved her flowers. She would spend many happy hours in her garden. Edith was predeased by her husband Leonard, special friend Dave Blake, son in law Leslie Ray, and brothers Francis and Johnny Sawyer. She is survived by her daughter Hazel, son Fred (Jeannine), grandchildren Tracy (Dave), Cindy (Richard), Amy and Stephen (Bella), her brother Don (Hazel), sister in law Ella and numerous nieces and nephews. She will especially be missed by her two special great grand children Junaid and Ashling.
