Jake Job

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jake Job on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Innisfail Health Centre, Acute Care, at the age of 98 years. Jake was born on December 28, 1916 in the southern Alberta area of Sandy Point. In 1936 he relocated to central Alberta to farm with his brother John. By 1939 Jake had established his own farm and began his life-long passion of farming which continued until the end of his life. Jake will always lovingly be remembered by his children Norma Fox of Athabasca, AB, Karen (Gerald) Marshall of Red Deer County, AB, Ivan (Carol) Job of Innisfail, AB and Marvin Job of Toronto, ON. Jake was predeceased by his wife Hazel (nee Quartly) in March 1989, granddaughter Lana Marshall in July 1994, brothers John, Ed and Louis Job, and sisters Annie Cameron, Tina Neigel and Lydia Lindseth. Jake celebrated five generations of his family with grandchildren Rick Maga, Trevor Maga, Brenda (David) Layden, Colin Marshall, Lindsey (Peter) Brinen and Chelsey (Cody) Vorosmarty. Jake's great-grandchildren are Kayla (Greg) Dyck, Derek Layden, Madison Brinen and Leah Maga, with great-great grandchild Isaiah Dyck. Jake was an avid, ambitious farmer and whole-heartedly dedicated his life's work to that honorable profession. In 1981, he and Hazel retired to Innisfail where he spent his retirement years playing horseshoes, bowling, curling and taking an occasional travel adventure. Memorial donations in Jake’s honor may be given to a charity of your choice. A special thank you goes to staff and nurses in the Acute Care area of the Innisfail Health Centre.
