Jim Jarvis

James Edward Jarvis. March 5, 1936 – October 22, 2015 Jim was born at home on the farm in the Bashaw, Alberta area on March 5, 1936 to Bill and Vera Jarvis. He was the second of eleven children. At 18 years of age he proudly followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment. After his service, as a civilian he mostly worked in the oilfield and construction industry, and truck driving. His long term jobs were for the Town of Innisfail and Richardson Brothers Construction of Olds. He was also a foreman for the Village of Bowden for two years. He married in 1961 and had four children with his wife, Myrtle. He is survived by his wife Myrtle, and children James (Karen), Wayne (Arlene), Kenneth (Merel), and Kathryn, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara, Anne (Bob), Brian (Karen), Betty, Ronald (Jacqueline), and Gloria and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Doreen, and brothers Donald, David and Richard. He was a good hearted Christian man who loved his family, friends, the Blue Jays, the Maple Leafs, and gospel and old country music. There were no strangers in his world, only new friends to be made. His life philosophy, “It does not cost you anything to show kindness and help others – it just makes the world a better place to live.” A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Innisfail on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 2:00pm.
