Kelsie Wamback Obituary

KELSIE MAY WAMBACK (NEE: ROBERTS) JANUARY 4, 1941 -- JULY 15, 2017 Kelsie, 76, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, AB, July 15, 2017 with her three daughters lovingly by her side. Kelsie was born in Bridgewater, NS, January 4, 1941 to Lillian Ruth (nee: Mahaney – born Shelburne, NS) and John Alexander Mitchell Roberts (born Canso, NS). Kelsie grew up in Shelburne, NS and had many terrific childhood friends and cousins from her adventurous school years. Kelsie had two amazing sisters, Ardeth (Harding) and Shirley (Fry) with whom she shared some of these adventures. After graduating from Shelburne Regional High School, Kelsie went on to Nova Scotia Normal College (then became named Nova Scotia’s Teachers College) in Truro, NS to begin her teaching matriculation. Kelsie met her husband, Terrance Boyd Wamback (born West Green Harbour, NS), through friends in Jordan Falls, NS. They were married April 1, 1961 and built a family home in Jordan Falls. Mom became a military wife and their travels/ postings would take them from the east coast to the west coast of Canada. Yet, amazingly all their daughters were born in Shelburne, NS. Mom would continue with her teaching career at some of the elementary schools on the military bases as a substitute teacher and/or teacher’s aide for remedial support to students. Mom, in her later years would also attend courses during her summers to continually further her teaching matriculation. Even upon retirement, mom would tutor and inspire many children – including her grandsons. Mom enjoyed her family, friends, her yard, doing word puzzles and would love to walk, walk and walk some more ~! Mom was extremely proud of her daughters: Sherri (Wayne McAllister) of Innisfail, AB; Candi (Rocky Horne) of Sooke, BC; and Terra Wamback of Innisfail, AB. Mom also adored her grandsons: Kurtis Horne and Kyle Horne (both of Sooke, BC); Scott McAllister and Wade (Sabrina Kaun) McAllister (both of Innisfail, AB). We were fortunate to see a sweet bond to develop with her first great grand daughter, Mia (Wade and Sabrina). Mom also got to meet and hold her second great grand daughter just recently born, Macy (Wade and Sabrina). Mom’s time was too short with us and she will be forever loved and missed dearly by her surviving sister, Ardeth; daughters Sherri, Candi, Terra and their families; husband, Boyd; all her beloved nieces, nephews, family and friends back east; Alberta family and friends; all her military and school friends from over the years. Kelsie was predeceased by her mother and father, and her sister Shirley. Cremation occurred via Heartland Funeral and Crematorium Services of Innisfail, AB. At mom’s request – there will be no service. If donations are desired, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choosing. The family would also like to give thanks for the many condolences, flowers, cards, food received over the past few weeks. We are fortunate to be loved by so many. Again, thank you for the heartfelt condolences that have been provided to us. We are very appreciative and grateful! God Saw You Getting Tired – unknown author God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be; So he put his arms around you And whispered ‘Come to Me.’ With tearful eyes we watch you And saw you pass away; And although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay. Your golden heart has stopped beating And your hard working hands are now at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
