Robert Mayberry

ROBERT “BOB” MAYBERRY 1946 - 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Kenneth Mayberry. He passed away peacefully at his home on March 28, 2017. Bob was born on August 13, 1946 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Agnes and Gordon Mayberry. After completing high school, he began his career as an Apprentice Parts Technician with Big M Ford. He married Pat Armstrong and they moved to Red Deer and later Penhold where they raised their family. Bob worked for Festival Ford as a Parts Technician and later as Parts Manager. He also worked for Edmonton Gear Centre as the Sales Rep for Western Canada. Silver Automotive was his last position in the auto industry. In the early 90's his marriage ended and he changed his career focus. He was awarded the contract with the City of Red Deer operating the concessions in the Arenas and Bower Ponds Pavillion. Bob's Snack Bars became synonymous with hockey in Red Deer. Out of town teams would arrive early to have a burger and fries because the quality was so well known and the service appreciated. He was every young child's favourite person and was regularly referred to as "the Candy Man.” Bob enjoyed this time of his life and many long term friendships were formed. In 2002 he joined the staff of Montgomery Auctions which fit with another of his passions. His most recent employment was with Pumps and Pressure in Red Deer. In 1998 he married Debbie and they enjoyed almost 19 years together. Bob's memory will be kept alive by his family: Debbie and his children Lorrilyn, Juli, Jeremy, Alison, Landon and their families as well as his canine kids Spencer and Fletcher. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Memorial Hall 1123 Fleming Avenue in Penhold, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Deer and District SPCA. The family wish to thank the Penhold Fire Department for their fast response and compassionate care.
