Wayne Van Sickle Obituary

WAYNE VAN SICKLE 1954 – 2017 Wayne passed away suddenly on December 6, 2017 at the age of 63 years at the Foothills Medical Centre after a short but courageous fight with Leukemia. Wayne was born on February 27, 1954 in Edmonton, Alberta to Sybil and Lawrence Van Sickle. Wayne was raised on the family dairy farm at Looma, Alberta where his passion for cattle was founded, he was also an active member in the local 4-H club. Wayne met Terry Ann in high school and were married July 7, 1973. Following the wedding they lived and worked at the dairy farm until moving to Sherwood Park to manage a farm in 1977. Wayne fulfilled a lifelong dream in 1986 when he and Terry Ann purchased a dairy farm in Innisfail which became the home of Riveredge Holsteins. Wayne was an amazing cattleman never forgetting an animal he thought was a “good one”. Not only could he spot them, he could raise them as well, breeding many show champions at the Westerner Championship Showcase and Canadian Western Agribition. The one he was most proud of was Riveredge Lindy Kara who won Best Bred and Owned at the World Dairy Expo. Wayne will be forever missed by his loving wife: Terry Ann, his children: Tanya (Terry) Stigings and their children: Taylor, Kaylee and Logan, son: Derek (Andrea) and their children: Karsen, Sydney and Ainsley. He will also be missed by his sister: Carol Ann (Alan) Konkin, mother in law: Peggy Crow, brother in law: Doug (Paulette) Crow; sisters in law: Laurie Lynn (Gary) Caron, and Maureen Crow as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Sybil and father in law Dereck Crow, brother: Keith and sister in law: Marlene Van Sickle. A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #104, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
