Thelma Shultz

Thelma Mary Shultz (nee Christensen) beloved mother joined our lord in heaven on March 20, 2017 on the first day of spring. It is with sadness we say farewell to her at the age of ninety nine. Born 1917 in Acme District to Olen and Grace Christensen. Mom was the third oldest of nine children. Veron, Vera, Thelma, Olive, Eva, Leo, Dale, Helen, Rudy. She is survived by her six children Grant Shultz ( Linda) of Calgary Alberta, Grace Devolin( and her late husband Ken, of Airdrie Alberta, Louis Shultz ( Shirley) of Didsbury Alberta, Doreen McKenzie ( Randy) of Red Deer Alberta, Sheila Hounslow(Scott) of Red Deer Alberta and Delbert Shultz ( Karon) of Red Deer Alberta. She leaves to morn 16 Grandchildren and 36 Great-grandchildren. After finishing high school in Acme Thelma moved to Calgary and worked her way through hairstyling school at Jacobson’ Hairstyling Academy. Shortly after Thelma opened a salon in her home town. Thelma lived the majority of her life east of Didsbury, until retiring in the town of Didsbury. She was active in many charities, organizations, and had a life full of faith throughout her years. Mom took up painting at the age of 60, after receiving art lessons for her birthday. She loved painting and had a real talent for it. She also loved gardening and had beautiful flowers. But the time she loved best was laughing and joking with her family. Thelma had a gentle loving sprit and loved unconditionally. The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the loving care our mother received from the Didsbury Hospital long term care unit. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
