Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Bill McNeney passed peacefully at home on August 26, surrounded by his family.

Going through the family photos showed how the family activities revolved around fishing, skiing, and, more recently, boating up and down the beautiful BC coast.

A long-time member of the Squamish Rotary club, Bill epitomized their mission "... to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders." Bill was full of life, loved people and was always willing to commit his considerable energy to helping others. He spent countless hours raising money for good causes in the community, such as health care, youth and family programs. Small projects had a way of growing with Bill. He didn't *just* volunteer. Starting out as parent volunteer with the Nancy Greene ski league somehow turned into a life-long commitment to ski racing, with his work with the Whistler World Cup and across Canada with Alpine Canada.

Bill always led by example, and though he was always ready with a moral story appropriate to the occasion, he tended not to give direct advice. However, if we were to get one last pearl of wisdom from him, it might be: hug your loved ones and find some small way to give back to your community.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Squamish Hospice Society.
