Charles Penhall West Vancouver, British Columbia Obituary

Charles Penhall

PENHALL, Charles (Bev) Beverly 1930-2019 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Bev Penhall on April 15th. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Norma, in October 2010. Left behind to mourn his absence are his son John (daughter Olivia, wife Pernilla and her children Evelyn and Piers); his son Ross (wife Caron, and children Sam and Sophie); his daughter Mary (and her children, Trevor and Chloe). Our heartfelt thanks go to the outstanding and loving care of Dr. Wayne Smith, the fun and attentive staff at Amica Edgemont Village, and the amazing healthcare team at Lions Gate Hospital, 6 East. Bev was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and moved with his family to Vancouver in 1949. He joined the James Lovick advertising agency in 1950 where he met Norma who he married four years later. In 1975 Bev went to work for the recently founded Insurance Corporation of BC. He retired from the organization as Vice President, Public Affairs & Road Safety in 1993. Bev and Norma were married in 1954 and moved to West Vancouver to raise their family in the Bayridge area in the early of that new and relaxed community when kids freely roamed the neighbourhood from dawn to dusk in the summertime. Bev and Norma enjoyed many years of golf together, both in Vancouver and up and down the West Coast. The family spent many summers basking in the sunshine of Canim Lake in the Cariboo. Bev will be sorely missed. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Bev’s life will be announced shortly. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the BC Lung Association would be welcome.
