She was predeceased by her husband Rae in 2018, parents Robert & Elizabeth Brims, brothers & sisters-in-law Olivene (Lloyd) Knibbs, Joy (John) Saunders, Donelda (John) Anderson, Rosebud (Cyril) Chase, Willis Graham, Glen Graham, Harold Welwood & Roland Jones. Liz/Mom/Grandma was born on September 3, 1935 on the family farm north of Rathwell to Robert and Elizabeth Brims. She grew up with her younger sister, Janet, by her side. She took her Normal School in Winnipeg getting her teaching certificate. She first taught at Lyleton before coming to the Rae School where she met her husband Rae. She also taught at Starbuck before returning to the farm at Holland to begin her life as a farm wife. Rae and Liz were married July 16, 1960. They had two daughters, Melody and Myrna, and as the years went on her family grew and Liz gained a son-in-law, Don and two granddaughters, Natasha and Rebecca, and a second son-in-law, Kevin. The family recently continued to grow when Natasha married Nathan and they added a little great granddaughter, Kinsley to the family tree. Mom/Grandma treasured country life. She enjoyed simple pleasures such as watching hummingbirds come to her feeder, walks in the hills to see the crocuses, rides in the side by side, or drives down to the family farm at Rathwell. She spent lots of time caring for her vegetable and flower gardens, reading, and tending to the animals on the farm, which included her dogs and many cats. She found enjoyment in attending local events, playing cards and visiting with neighbours and friends. She was very interested in family history and was happy to be able to travel to Scotland when she was 78, to visit her dad’s birthplace. Family was of great importance to her. She always took much pride in watching her grandchildren grow and family visits were always filled with great times and lots of laughter. Mom/Grandma has left us with many treasured memories. We know that God now has her in his arms but we will have her in our hearts forever. Funeral services was held on Monday March 9, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Holland United Church with Heather Grobb officiating. Interment took place in the Brookdale Cemetery, followed by a reception held in the Holland Community Hall. Friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Lizabel's memory to the Holland United Church Memorial Fund, Box 191, Holland MB R0G 0X0 or to a charity of choice.
