On Sunday November 3, 2019 at the Tiger Hills Health Centre, Treherne MB, Mary McClelland (nee Bodnarchuk), aged 98 years, passed away peacefully with her son Bob at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her sons James (Lynne) McClelland of Brandon, Robert McClelland of Rathwell, sister-in-law Phyllis Bodnarchuk of Edmonton AB as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband Allan in 2003, parents Alexander & Katryna Bodnarchuk, brothers Steven (Retta), Gordon (Evelyn), Walter (Alice) & Jerry and by sisters Elizabeth (Frank) Lloyd & Dora (Steve) Sloboda. Mary was born February 19, 1921 at Vita MB and grew up on her family's farm. She worked for several years for a Winnipeg doctor taking care of his home and family. On November 19, 1943 she married Allan McClelland and she resided on the farm until her passing. Mary was active in the community, always there to help. She was a member of the Rathwell United Church, the choir and the UCW. She enjoyed many happy times with the Red Hatters group traveling to many interesting places in southern Manitoba. Mom worked hard to provide for her family. She loved gardening and putting away an ample supply of vegetables, fruits, jams, jellies and pickles for the winter. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, sewing, woodworking and reading. Visitors were always welcome at the McClelland home and many wonderful meals were enjoyed. Funeral service will be held on Friday November 8, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Rathwell Memorial Hall with Rev. Chuck Ross officiating. Interment will take place in the Woodlands Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, friends that so desire, memorial donations can be made in Mary's memory to the Green Prairie Lodge, Box 158, Rathwell MB, R0G 1S0 or to a charity of choice.
