William Patterson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our dear Husband, Dad, grandpa Bill, and Papa, at his home, on December 30,2019 Bill will be forever loved and remembered by his beloved wife of 46 years, Chrissy. Daughters, Lori (Jeff) Sobetski, Tanya (Keith) Ballegeer, Jennifer (George) Jaczina, and his cherished grandchildren, Sheldon, Megan, Jordan, Katlyne, Declan and Mya. He will also be remembered by his brother Dennis (Susan), Pat, Margeret (Rod) and by numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Hazel, sister Muriel, and brother Robert, in-laws, Stephen and Tina Lucko. Bill was born on April 12, 1948 in Yorkton, SK, and received all of his early education there. In the spring of 1973, Bill met his future bride in Yorkton, where they were quickly married on October 20, 1973 in Winnipeg. Bill and Chris remained in Yorkton where there had their three daughters. In 1981, the family made the move to Hazelridge, MB, where they continued to raise their family for many years. Bill enjoyed living on an acreage where he raised many horses, cattle, dogs,and also played on the local hockey team. He worked hard as a machinist in Yorkton and Winnipeg, before returning to College at the young age of 60 to complete his red seal as a Millwright. Bill and Chris recently retired in their home in Selkirk. In 2001, Bill and Chris became grandparents. Bill took great pride and joy in all six of his grandchildren, ranging in the age of 5 thru 18. He always made sure to attend all of the grandchildren’s hockey games, snowmobile racing, dance recitals and other numerous activities. He was always known to be the biggest and loudest cheerleader. After many years of working hard to provide for his family, Bill and Chris caught the travel bug. They made many wonderful memories travelling to Mexico, Las Vegas, and his favorite place to visit, was his home in Yorkton. Bill found great enjoyment playing in poker tournaments in Winnipeg and Las Vegas, as well as going for long rides on his Harley with Chris. The pallbearers will be his six grandchildren - Sheldon, Megan, Jordan, Katlyne, Declan, Mya. The family would like to extend thanks to the first responders in Selkirk for their support and efforts. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at OakBank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent in OakBank at 11:00a.m.
