Angus McAuley THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Angus McAuley

Angus Murray McAuley was born Wednesday, December 16, 1936 in Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. One of eleven children, Murray left home at the age of 16. He met the love of his life, Norma, in The Pas. After Murray threatened to jump off the bridge if she wouldn’t marry him, the two were united in marriage in Camperville, June 27, 1959. Murray and Norma moved to Kelsey, and then on to Thompson, where Murray worked for Manitoba Hydro for 5 years. While in Thompson, Murray and Norma’s first daughter, Valerie was born in 1960. In 1965 the family moved to Snow Lake where Murray was employed by HBM&S for 32 years. He was always very proud to be able to walk out at the end of his shift and tell people that he had made his round. While living in Snow Lake, Murray and Norma added Elaine, Glen and Lynn to their family. Murray loved to go hunting and fishing, taking his wife and children with him. He loved spending time gardening on his island and in his boat. Murray also loved to pick berries, especially along the road to Grand Rapids. Except for his family, there was nothing that Murray loved more than the Saskatchewan Roughriders or the Toronto Maple Leafs. Murray passed away peacefully Sunday, January 15, 2012 with his family at his side at the Snow Lake Health Centre, Snow Lake, Manitoba, at the age of 75 years. Murray leaves to mourn his memory, his wife Norma; children Valerie (Lee), Elaine (Merv), Glen (Cara) and Lynn; grandchildren James, Kaylee, Shaylyn, Brandon, Jessica; siblings Leo, Robert, Rosina and Myrtle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by his son Michael McAuley; parents Joseph and Margaret McAuley; sisters Lilly, Muriel, Valerie and Flora; brothers Dougall, Richard and Dan; ; grandchildren Luke Joseph Phillips and Skye Echo McAuley; in-laws J.B. and Madeline Ledoux.
