With great heartache and sorrow, Tony past away in the prime of his life, at the tender age of 34. Husband to Steph, daddy to Mercedes, his most precious daughter, as well as Mesha Chartrand, Randy Daniels, and numerous foster children. Son of Raymond and Linda Constant, son-in-law to Norman and Shirley Sinclair. Tony was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, Sunday, August 12, 1979. He was raised on Opaskwayak Cree Nation and was a member of Grand Rapids Cree Nation. Tony was a gentle, patient, and humorous man with an adventurous and mischievous side. He was known to have a positive and encouraging nature. Tony was fun loving and enjoyed sharing good times with family and friends. Tony was talented; he had an artistic touch, and was a freehand artist. Tony was the “go to guy”, assisting everyone in need, never asking anything in return. Tony had a big heart; he was receptive to providing a loving home to children in need. Tony did the majority care giving of the children, when they became foster parents in 2001. Tony shared twenty two years with the love of his life; his wife Steph, he lovingly called her “babe”. Tony had a great love for sports; his first passion was the game of basketball, which he played with his friends. During High School he did track, and played volleyball. Tony took great pleasure playing baseball with his family, as well as golfing with his wife. Tony received his education at Joe A. Ross School, and also attended Kelsey Adult Learning Centre and achieved his Grade 12 Diploma in June 2013 at Oscar Lathlin Collegiate. Tony had many achievements and accomplishments, first and foremost becoming a daddy to Mercedes, as well as Randy and Mesha. Over the years he had worked at many places; Kikiwak Inn, Otineka Mall, Paskwayak Business Development Corporation, Your Dollar Store with More, Tim Horton’s, OCN – Bush Cutting. Tony was recently employed full time as Security at Joe A. Ross School. Tony meant so much to so many people in many different ways. He leaves to be treasured in their hearts, his loving wife Stephanie Sinclair; daughters Mercedes, Mesha; son Randy; dad and mom Raymond and Linda Constant; in-laws Norman and Shirley Sinclair; brothers Raymond Jr. (Shelby), Daniel (Rachael), and Stanley (Bonita), Tron; sisters Yvonne (Vernon), Beverly (Shawn), Josie (Ellias), and April; godmother Barbara Shoomski; godchildren Royce Constant, Rowan Fenner, and Conner Reinfort; Numerous uncles, aunties nieces, nephews, cousins, foster brothers and sisters, and many lifelong close friends. Tony was predeceased by family members, best friend and uncle “Dollar” Donald Chartrand; grandparents Edna and Anthony Constant, Audrey and Hubert Sinclair; uncles Kirby Sinclair, JohnJohn Sinclair; cousins Angel Sinclair, James Kostyk. Wake services were held Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the residence of Linda and Raymond Constant, 383 Kiche Maskanow, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, and Friday, May 30, 2014, Margaret Henderson Parish Hall, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB. The funeral service was held Saturday, May 31, 2014, 1:00 pm, at the Church of the Redeemer, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB, with Rev. Gloria Lavallee and Rev. Barbara Shoomski presiding. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Tiffany Kostyk, Audrey Ballentyne and Patricia Head. Eulogy was delivered by Eugene Sinclair. Tributes were given by Jade Turner and Mike Jebb Jr.. Pallbearers were Raymond Constant Jr., Stanley Constant, Daniel Constant, Tron Michelle, Ron Gutowski, Clifford Lathlin, Richard Kirton, Kevin Kirton, Leonard Lathlin, Royce Constant. Ushers were Brandon Fenner, Eugene Constant Honorary pallbearers were OCN Magic, OCN Jacs, Joe A. Ross Flyers, Conner Reinfort, Rowan Fenner, Lisa Chartrand, Norman Sinclair, Jim Chartrand and all of Tony’s Family and Friends. In keeping with family wishes, cremation will take place and an interment will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Emmanuel Cemetery, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, MB. Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who expressed their kindness, through prayers, deeds, and donations. May God bless you all.
