Blanche Kennedy THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Blanche Kennedy

Blanche was born Saturday, July 1, 1922, at her family home just north of Roblin, Manitoba. She attended school at Roblin and Tummel. Blanche married George Kennedy on Tuesday, December 2, 1941 at Roblin, Manitoba. Together they had 4 children, Peter, Roydon, Patricia and Gerald. They farmed in the Cupar area until 1961 when they moved to The Pas and took up farming in the Carrot River Valley. In 1964 they moved to Bowsman, Manitoba and farmed until 1978 when they moved back to The Pas and semi-retired on an acreage in the Carrot Valley once again. Blanche loved quilting, crocheting, knitting and gardening flowers and spending time with family and friends in her home. She made many meals and took to them to the fields and to the bush for her family. She would also feed anyone who came to visit. She loved salt and we always laughingly said she was “well preserved”. Mum was a wonderful, strict mother but we always had a great love for her. Blanche passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 with her four-legged friend Tippy and her special friend Betty by her side, at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba, age 89 years. Blanche is survived by her daughter Patricia Jory (Jack Lindsay); son Gerald (Patricia) Kennedy and their children Lindsay, Kayla and Daisy May; daughter-in-law Elaine Kennedy; sister Violet Clement of Sudbury, Ontario; grandchildren Twila, Cristal, Cole, Nicole, Warren, Denise; 10 great grandchildren and special four-legged friend Tippy. Blanche was predeceased by her husband George; sons Peter (November 8, 2008), Roy (November 30, 2010); parents Adam and Mary Johnstone; In-Laws; and many family members. Blanche was the 8th child of eleven. She was predeceased by brothers Ed (at Juno Beach in 1942), Albert, Allan, Nelson, La Vern; sisters Beatrice, Evelyn, and twins Vera and Velma; son-in-law Victor Jory (1989). In keeping with Blanche’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Blanche’s life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations to the Carrot Valley Community Centre, Box 852, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K8, would be appreciated by Blanche’s family.
