Bradley Wiens Obituary

On Saturday July 5, 2014 Bradley Cole Wiens passed away amongst family doing what he loved - fishing, spending time with family and swimming at Clearwater Lake. Brad passed on at the age of 40 years, at St. Anthony's Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba. Brad is survived by his parents Ken and Janis; brother Greg; sister Lisa (Jonathon); niece Juli; nephews Johnny, Jesse; aunt Sharon (Dave); uncle Al (Eileen); grandfather Doug; aunt Janet (Bob); uncle Stuart (Mary); cousins Gayle, Stephen (Ashley), Channing, Clifford, Ginny, Danny (Jan), Greg (Kari), Brayden, Alex and Jason. Brad was predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Sadie Wiens; grandmother Patricia Fleming; aunt Cindy Renner; and uncle David Renner. Brad was born Thursday, October 18, 1973 in St. Anthony's Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba to Ken and Janis Wiens. Brad lived in the Town of The Pas on Cathedral Avenue, until the family moved to the farm on Rall's Island in 1978 - when Brad, was 4 years old. Brad attended Kelsey school, Mary Duncan, Scott Bateman and graduated from M.B.C.I. In 1993. Brad then attended Assiniboine Community College where he received his diploma for Electrical Technology. Brad worked as an apprentice electrician in Calgary, Jasper, Whistler, and then came back to Manitoba to work in the North. Brad became a Journeyman Electrician when he received his Red Seal Certificate in 2010. Brad was employed with Noble Electric, Flin Flon, Manitoba. He also worked at Norman Electric in Thompson for many years, prior to Noble Electric. Brad had many childhood memories with the neighbourhood kids swimming at Curly's dug out, sliding, skating on the creek, playing baseball at the neighbours and just hanging out. Brad enjoyed trapping, duck hunting and fishing. Later in Brad's teenage years, he took up archery. Brad loved fishing and could just walk across the road to his fishing spot, down by the River. Brad had recently found a fishing hole around Flin Flon and was eager to show it to Mom and Dad, this summer. Brad's second family was the Lucian family - he started helping Mr. Mike Lucian Sr. when he was twelve years old and as the years progressed, Mike and Danny. Brad had a special friendship with all the family. Brad loved being with his brother Greg. They lived in many places together across Canada - with many great memories and stories to tell. Brad and Greg spent time together doing what boys do, including - hunting, fishing and socializing. One of many of "the boys" stories, was a time they decided to go duck hunting together in dad's canoe... Both anticipating a great shot - they both went for it knocking them out of the boat, losing dad's guns! They spent more quality time together searching for the guns, in the creek, via canoe and swimming. Dad eventually located his guns with a metal detector. Brad spent time with his nephew, Johnny, fishing and hunting. Brad was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. Brad was always willing to help out. He was very caring and called his mom and dad often to tell about his week and make sure everything was okay. Brad gave unconditionally and expected nothing in return. He was a very kind soul to all that he encountered. The funeral service to celebrate Bradley’s life was held Saturday, July 12, 2014, 1:00 pm at the Westminster United Church, The Pas, Manitoba with Joan Prokopow presiding. Music Ministry was provided by Valerie Beckingham. Lighting of the memorial candle was Stephen Renner and Gayle Renner. Tribute poem was read by Allen Wiens. Following the service, a reception was held for family and friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. In keeping with family wishes, cremation followed. Pallbearers were Greg Wiens (brother), Jonathon Laframboise (brother-in-law), Allen Wiens (uncle), Greg Renner (cousin), Stephen Renner (cousin), Doug Flemming (grandpa). If friends wish, donations can be made to The Pas Area Snowhill, Box 669 The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K7.
