Camelia George

Sadly we announce the passing of our mother, sister, aunt, kokum, sister-in-law, god mother and friend, Camelia George, aka La Camelia, who passed away after a long battle with diabetes and with her family by her side, Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at age 62 years. Camelia was born at the Chemawawin old post to Rachel and Adam George, Tuesday, December 14, 1948. She lived in the old post until relocating to Easterville in 1964 due to hydro flooding. Camelia was a very quiet and loving person. She was well known for her beadwork. She loved playing poker, bingo and doing word search puzzles. She enjoyed watching wrestling, baking, listening to country and fiddle music and our annual family gathering at the old post. She especially like to tease her grandchildren Mikey “Monkey”, Junior “Parakowhat” and her favorite nephew Pete “Douglas” and visiting her medical van buddies. Camelia is survived by her two sons Brian (Rhonda) and Robert (Cheryl); grandchildren Michael, Brian Jr., Brianne, Pherris; sisters Edna (Ovide) Chartier, Muriel (Sidney) Brass; brothers Gideon (Jean), Oliver; brother-in-law Phillip Chartier; aunt Alice George; godchildren Ryan, Marissa, Edward Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews and close relatives. Camelia was predeceased by her parents Rachel (2004) and Adam (1987); sisters Rose (2001), Vina (2000), Ellen (1958), Clara (1940), Clara (1987); brother Brian (1981); brother-in-law Paul Daniels (2004); nieces Sylvia, Raven; nephew Richard; aunties Catherine Ballantyne (Grand Rapids), Flora Jane Sanderson (Moose Lake), Victoria Hudson (Easterville), Ida Thickfoot (Easterville), Edith Umpherville (Easterville); uncles Zacheus Easter (Grand Rapids) and McLeod George (Easterville).
