Catherine Ready Obituary

Cass was born Monday, March 17, 1930 to John and Eliza Campbell in Carman, Manitoba. She attended a one room country school and lived in Carman until a career with MTS gave her the opportunity to move to many small southern Manitoba towns. She married Mac Ready in 1960 and together they raised two daughters; Barb and Bijou. Cass and family moved many times in their 40 years of marriage; they lived Glenboro, Boissevain, Winnipeg, Thompson, Killarney, and The Pas. Her last 5 years were spent in St. Paul’s residence in The Pas. Cass loved life; she was flamboyant and animated. She made friends easily and loved deeply. She loved animals, gardening, crafting, shopping, and collecting teddy bears. She had a fantastic sense of humor and was always willing to try something new. Cass died peacefully at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba, Friday, September 24, 2010 with her family at her bedside, age 80 years. Cass is survived by her daughters Barb (Gerry) Atchison and Bijou (Jim) Howatt; grandchildren Scott, Erin, Amy & Matthew; great-grandchildren Michael, Seth, Presley & Oliver; her sister Mag (Irv) Park; and nieces and nephews too many to mention. Cass was predeceased by her husband Mac Ready; her parents John and Eliza Campbell; her brother Jack Campbell, and her sister Marta Macpherson. In keeping with Cass’s wishes, the family will celebrate her life in a private ceremony at a date to be determined. If friends so desire, donations to The Pas and Area Humane Society, Box 4005, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1S5, would be appreciated by Catherine’s family.
