Darren Tobacco Obituary

Darren was born Friday, September 14, 2001, in The Pas, Manitoba, to Danella and Jason Tobacco. Darren loved giving and receiving knowledge, which helped him to teach people the most important thing in life, which is to love one another. Darren would say, “People will remember you, if you give back.” The room would light up when Darren walked in. Darren loved his dad greatly and he would often say, “I want to be like my dad and lend a hand to my community.” He enjoyed being outside, playing soccer, wrestling, swimming, playing kick the can, make-a-line baseball, going to North Arm camp, fishing, looking for prairie chickens, wiener roasting, making bows and arrows, baking, playing X-box, berry picking, sliding, hiking in new environments, skidooing, biking and most of all, having a good laugh visiting family and friends. Darren’s favorite foods were moose meat, potatoes, bannock, and homemade pizza. For breakfast he enjoyed French toast with syrup. Darren learned that our Cree culture was rich and was very proud to tell people to learn more about it. Darren cherished and lived up to his nickname “Jumbo”. He was very proud of the accomplishments he set his mind to. He greatly appreciated his mom and dad’s efforts to make him happy. He enjoyed his special visits with his grandpa Clayton in South Indian Lake. Darren passed away unexpectedly, Monday, December 9, 2013 at the Moose Lake Nursing Station, Moose Lake, Manitoba, at the age of 12 years. Darren is survived by his mother Danella; father Jason; sisters Bethany Buck, Stephanie Tobacco, Eileen Campbell; grandparents Marlene and Leonard Buck, Karla and Jim Tobacco; great grandmother Granny Betsy Buck, Granny Vivian Moose; aunties Evelyn (Steve), Annie (Abraham), Belinda (James), Wanda (Eric), Vanessa (Jamie), Betsy (Peter), Stephanie, Lisa and families; uncles Irving (Jennifer), Wesley (Vinetta), Lyle, Jacob (Shelly); nephew Leito; godparents Kookom Marlene, Floyd “Mr. Cool”; and other family members and friends too numerous to mention.
