David McGillivary THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

David McGillivary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, chapan, papa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend, David, who passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, July 2, 2015. David was born Thursday, December 5, 1946 to parents Harry George and Helen McGillivary. David married the love of his life, Sally (nee Partridge) on July 19, 1968. They were blessed with six children, Abigail, Helen, Mary Ann, David Jr and Gordon and Lillian. They also raised their grandchildren Heather, Darryl, Jerome, Nancy and great grandchild Teddi Young. Heather, Teddi and a new great grandchild Trice lived with their grandpa and papa at the time of his passing. David received his education at the Big Eddy Indian Day School and was sent to the residential schools in Brandon and Dauphin. David often travelled west to British Columbia and Calgary, Alberta to visit family. He always reminded us to keep in touch with his sister Patsy`s family. David was a loving father, grandfather, papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be missed by all who knew him as, “Muddy”. He loved his children and grandchildren and was proud of their accomplishments. He enjoyed celebrating special occasions with his family; making sure everyone had enough to eat. The visits with his friends meant a lot of fun and laughter as David loved to joke around. If you heard a loud voice, that would be “Muddy”. His beautiful spirit will continue to live in the hearts of his family and his many friends, often speaking of his “Sangador” friends, he had great memories. David worked for the CN Extra Gang, various hydro generating stations in the North and then for Opaskwayak Cree Nation as a carpenter. Sally worked with her husband as she had taken training as a carpenter. Our parents built many houses here at OCN. At the time of his death, our father David was 68 years old. David is survived by his children Helen (Leo) Linklater of Nelson House, Mary Ann (Thomas) Ranville of OCN, Lillian (Ryan) Clemons of Winnipeg, son David Jr (Betty Ann) McGillivary of OCN; grandchildren Heather Young, Darryl Young, Nancy McGillivary, Jerome McGillivary; great grandchildren Teddi and Trice Young. He is also survived by 26 other grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; brothers Harry George McGillivary (Eileen), Gordon McGillivary (Martina), Raymond McGillivary (Glenda); sisters Linda Stevens (Pearly), Verna Constant, Ann Shirley McGillivary, Trina McKay (Brian), Marilyn McGillivary; and many nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
