David Wilson THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

David Wilson

David was born on September 29, 1947 at The Pas, Manitoba, and was raised by his parents Joseph & Christie Ann Wilson in Big Eddy most of their lives. David started his education at the Big Eddy Day School. He played Soccer with the Big Eddy Warriors growing up and in the Big Eddy League with the Big Eddy White Caps. Later Grandpa attended Keewatin Community College for upgrading into Carpentry. He was also a member of the #19 Legion, which was handed down to him by his Grandfather. He met his wife Samaria Grace and they were married on February 14, 1998, They raised a few family members for different amounts of time; Corrine Martin, Norman Cook and Fred Grey. Then they adopted and raised their Daughter Norma. Our brother found one of his great interests, his ministry; he went on to complete his certification at the Henry Budd Centre as an ordained Minister. During this time, he also travelled to many communities for his Ministry. He was a very kind and compassionate man towards his Ministry. He had a way of teaching and talking when the youth needed someone to talk to, they would go and see him. Dad also worked various jobs growing up, and then finally settled at the Opaskwayak Health Authority as a Van Driver for the Home Care and Elders Program, when he eventually retired a couple years ago. Our brother loved to watch Wrestling on TV, and sports. He also loved to watch Hockey, whether it be the OCN Blizzard or family at Hockey Tournaments. Some of his other hobbies he loved were, hunting, fishing, trapping with his brothers and pals Ben, the late John Peter and John (Cap). His last mission was to help build his brothers Gary’s Cabin. He would share a lot of teaching he learnt from his father at the camp, passing on his carpentry skills or in life as general. He was always willing to help on whatever projects you had. He loved to joke around to make people laugh, he had a wonderful heart. After the passing of his wife in 2009, he became very lonely and unmotivated with most of his hobbies and entertainment. He fell ill in September and ended up in the The Pas Hospital in October 2017. He knew he wouldn’t be getting out of the hospital and always told his siblings and daughter Norma, not to worry about him and told them that he loved them every visit he had.
