Duncan Lunam

Duncan Gregory Lunam was born Sunday, March 5, 1939 at Montreal, Quebec. He lived there until the age of 6 and then moved to Ottawa. Duncan met Maureen in Alymer, Quebec and they were married in St. Mark’s Church, Alymer Quebec, October 17, 1964. Duncan and Maureen began their married life in Ottawa and within a short time moved to Flin Flon in 1966. Karen was born in Ottawa, Jim, Kenn and Jennifer were born in Flin Flon. Duncan was a family man who cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and the friendship of many people. Duncan loved and lived his faith which was very important to him. He looked forward to his work as a Chartered Accountant. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing and his home at the lake where many happy years were spent with his family. Duncan passed away peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his family by his side, age 71 years. Duncan is survived by his wife Maureen; children Karen Ann Lunam of Toronto, Kenn and Cherie Lunam and their children Keegan, Aidan and Kale of Regina, Jennifer Lunam and her daughter Ashton of Flin Flon. Duncan was predeceased by his son James Lunam, December 27, 1986. In keeping with family wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate Duncan’s life was held Friday, September 24, 2010, 2:00 pm at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Flin Flon, Manitoba, with Rev. Paul Bringleson presiding. Music ministry was provided by Mark Kolt. Memories of the heart were shared by Earnest Shapera and a tribute to “Dad” was given by Kenn Lunam. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Karen Lunam, Jennifer Lunam and Helen Baumgartner. Preparation of the gifts were Cherie Lunam and grandchildren Keegan, Aidan, Kale and Ashton. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Czettisch, Al Mills, Lavern Morran, Mel Reich, Andy Stewart, Dale Whitbread. Guest book was attended by Orla Czettisch, Isabel Stewart. Memorial folders were attended by Evelyn Black, Agnes Mills and ushers were Wayne Black and Ken Highmoor . A private family interment followed at Hillside Cemetery, Flin Flon, Manitoba. If friends so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C OS6, or can be made at Northern Rainbow’s End, would be appreciated by Duncan’s family.
