Dwayne Lambert Obituary

Dwayne left us unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in Moose Lake, Manitoba, at the age of 37 years. Dwayne was born Friday, May 14, 1976 in The Pas, Manitoba. Dwayne attended Moose Lake School in his elementary years and attended FCI in Cranberry Portage completing grade 10. During his summer holidays and weekends from a very young age, he learned how to hunt, trap and fish. Dwayne was a great hunter and he always brought home moose, geese or ducks whenever he went out on his hunting trips. He especially loved overnight camping trips with his family and friends. This is something that Dwayne loved, surrounded by the nature and its beauty. He had great passion for the outdoors and the adventures it had to offer. He always had something to do, never complained about helping others and was never lazy. Dwayne’s lifestyle was very basic and simple, never made any judgments on anyone and always respected others young or old. He loved making people happy and making them laugh. He was well known in the Community because of his personality, he had a way of warming up to people and melting their hearts. Dwayne never held back expressing his feelings and saying, “I Love You” to his family and friends. He was raised to respect and Love and demonstrated that throughout his life. Dwayne worked in various jobs; he worked for the Moose Lake fire department for many years. He completed his level 1 firefighting and became fire chief for 4 years. During the summer months, he went firefighting with his crew since he also received his type 3 firefighting certificate. He was also a sector boss. Dwayne always trapped and fished as employment when needed. He often had friends coming in from the United States to guide them on their fishing and hunting trips. Dwayne would often say that he knew the Moose Lake resource area as it was his back pocket. On occasion, he worked for the band as a Carpenter and brush cutter. He always had a lot of jobs and never ran out of things to do. When he wasn’t working full time, he created his own employment by contracting himself as a carpenter in renovating houses or making sheds and always had a helping hand for his family. Nothing seemed challenging for Dwayne because he never knew what lazy meant. He was a strong man and always kept himself busy. He was presently working for Sigfussion Construction at Keeyask project with his nephew Blair Lambert. Dwayne has always enjoyed competing in The Pas Trapper’s festival and his main event was arm wrestling. He always made the Moose Lakers proud as he defended his championship yearly. He also liked playing soccer and going on tournaments. He was very gifted at whatever sport he played. Volleyball was another of his past time, never a dull moment when he was on the court. He loved doing outdoor activities like boating and ski-dooing. He knew a lot about Moose Lake history and the treasures it holds. He would take family and friends out to Trout Island and show places like the paintings and the spring water. Dwayne loved going out to the river and enjoyed fishing, he would always take his auntie Dolcey on his outings because of her picnic basket, he would tease her about it. He was excited when it came to upcoming weddings, he loved the family getting together and welcoming new members to the family. He also prepared well in advance when there was an event planned. Lately, the family started summer camps at Pickerel channel and he enjoyed being there. He was also the first to be there to prepare and clean up camp. Dwayne was never shy to try new things, he recently started new dance moves and always made an audience when he was on the dance floor. Dwayne especially loved making visits with his sister Geraldine and Weestawa Ken to Cormorant and enjoyed the homemade meals from Ivan Myers. He liked spending his time at Floyd and Salina’s and always found something to do or fix. He took pride in decorating their house for Christmas yearly. Dwayne loved telling stories about his hunting trips and the mishaps that took place. He would throw enthusiasm into his stories which made them even more exciting and interesting . He had such a great sense of humor which made himself many friends. He never hesitated to help others going through great struggles to offer whatever services he could provide. Dwayne had pride in his children whom he adored equally. He always talked about them and enjoyed spending time and bonding with them whenever he could. He teased his girls by calling them his rugrats. Although, Dwayne was loaned to us, we are very grateful that he entered our lives and sad to let him go.
