Elaine Jebb THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Elaine Jebb

Elaine was born Sunday, April 22, 1973 in The Pas, Manitoba to Elijah and Rachel Jebb. Elaine resided in Opaskwayak Cree Nation in her childhood years. As the years went by, she moved to Winnipeg, MB where she lived for numerous years. She eventually moved back home. Elaine received her education in The Pas and also in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In her free time, Elaine enjoyed reading, writing and watching movies as she had a wide selection of movies. She was also fond of animals, Brandy being the latest addition. Elaine enjoyed listening to music and at the same time enjoyed writing lyrics and strumming her guitar. Due to her illness, Elaine’s activities became very limited, therefore, slowing down her activities. Elaine was a kind, loving, friendly and outgoing person. Our sister met many, many friends throughout her lifetime, and she saw her friendships as a “Gift from God”. She expressed this in her poetry. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and she would help the best way she could and her response would be “here take it, take it, take it all”, that was Elaine. She would purposely try to get under your skin and she would “chuckle” behind your back when she succeeded with a sparkling twinkle in her eye. Elaine readily “forgave” and she would be calling the next day asking “are you still mad” and would show up at your doorstep. Elaine had a very kind heart and this showed through the many friendships she made. Elaine was raised by Antoine & Martha Constant in her early years. She gained family through “Indian Custom” adoption. She resided with her adoptive parents until she was eleven (11) years old. Elaine’s children meant the world to her even though she wasn’t able to care for them; she would often speak about them and deep down in her heart she truly loved them, but she was also happy for them. After reading her poems and songs she wrote, we understood Elaine’s life and the struggles she endured. You will be truly missed Elaine!! Elaine is survived by her brothers & sisters from the Jebb side; Pat Young, Leroy Jebb, Gordon Jebb; Darlene (Jim) Chartrand, Alice (Bert)Constant and Valerie Jebb, Uncle James Young, Mary & Sherridon Lewis, numerous cousins, nephews & nieces, and all her friends. Elaine is also survived by her adoptive brothers & sisters; Norman (Betsy) Constant, Frank Baldy (Nellie) Constant, Gordon (Sue) Constant, Clarence (Patti) Constant, Matilda Constant, Sylvia James, Mur Young, Shirley Constant, Ingar Constant, and Lydia Constant-Clarke. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Elijah & Rachel Jebb, Sister Ernestine Caribou and Brother John Jebb; Grandparents Adam & Sarah Jebb, Donald & Mary Young; numerous family members too many to mention. Adoptive parents Antoine & Martha Constant, and most recently, Gladys Munro (she called her mom), Uncles Joseph L. Young & Nelson James, adoptive cousins Mary Anne Head, Lorraine Wilson, Julie H. Constant and others too numerous to mention. The Jebb Family would like to “thank “ the Constant family for the love, care and support of our late sister. We will be forever grateful.
