Eleanor Lathlin THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Eleanor Lathlin

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Mom went to be with our Creator on March 28, 2016, Easter Sunday, with family by her side. Eleanor Violet Lathlin nee Wilson was born on July 1, 1942 at The Pas, Manitoba, St. Anthony’s Hospital as it was known at that time. She resided in Opaskwayak Cree Nation throughout her life. Eleanor was united in marriage to the late Raymond Lathlin Sr. on August 12, 1994. Together they raised their grandson Wilfred (Wally) Wilson since the tender age of 3 months old. Mom was employed as an Aide at St. Paul’s Residence. She then transferred to Opaskwayak Cree Nation where she was a home-care worker for 20 years until her retirement. Eleanor was an avid A.C.W Member for the Church of Redeemer; she was always willing to volunteer and donate. She was a dedicated church goer when she was well enough to attend. She had a desire to have the cemeteries cleaned up in our community, not to forget the families who had passed on. Eleanor enjoyed going to Raymond’s camp and spending quality time with Wally and family members. Prior to Mom’s diagnosed with cancer, she enjoyed playing bingo and going to garage sales. Many spontaneous trips were taken to spend time together away from the community. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with family members and helping her siblings when she knew she could be of help to them, always welcoming visitors in her home. Eleanor is survived by her children Sylvia Lathlin-Scott (Raymond Scott), Wilfred (My My) Wilson, Joseph Khole, Wilfred Wally Wilson (grandson) Step Children: Marlene, Henry (Barb), Gertrude (Billy), Florence (Nathan), Art (Cheryl), Lucy (Adam), and the Ross Family.
