Elizabeth Grey THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Elizabeth Grey

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Harriet (nee Bignell), Wednesday, October 25th, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 60 year. Elizabeth was born Thursday, July 25, 1957 at The Pas, Manitoba. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Samuel Grey, on July 23, 1977 and together they had five children, and raised their oldest grandchildren Shania and Phillip Sinclair as their own. They lived in Moose Lake and would occasionally go camp at her father's trap line, and make trips to Talbot Lake where her husband was logging. She devoted most of her time toward raising her children. Elizabeth and her husband were inseparable and were always going to places together. Elizabeth, known also as “Alezibat”, or “Alez” enjoyed visiting relatives, friends and caring for and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending family birthday parties, and every Christmas she made sure to give presents to her family including her God children. Before her health ailments began, Elizabeth and her husband also made it a yearly tradition to get up before sunrise during Lent in April to get holy water at the lake and would always share it with family members and friends. She was a very compassionate person who always put others first before her own needs. She was a kind and loving woman who always had a smile for everyone, and also had a funny sense of humor. She often told stories about Wesakechak and her young trap line days with her family. Elizabeth also enjoyed playing her keyboard, guitar, accordion and violin. She was musically gifted from The Lord Our Creator and she loved sharing and teaching others with her talents. Elizabeth and her husband would hold Sunday school in their home before her health ailments began. Through her music, with her husband by her side, her brother Lambis, niece Marlene (Simon), daughters Edna and Verna, friend Purvis McKay, they would attend wakes to show their respect, support and comfort to the families by singing Gospel songs. She also had faith in the Lord and often talked to others about her faith. She was an active ACW member as well. Elizabeth had many friends both young and old, who she enjoyed spending time with. She would also spend a lot of quality time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved and cherished dearly.
