Elsie Daniels Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Elsie Ellen Daniels on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Ashern, Manitoba, at the age of 52 years. Elsie was born Tuesday, March 5, 1963 in The Pas, Manitoba. She was born to Rose and Gideon Daniels. The oldest of seven children. Elsie received her High School diploma in 1983 after giving birth to the oldest of her five children. She always stressed the importance of education to her children and encouraged them to persevere in everything they do. We, her children are proud to say that all five of us have graduated from High School and three of us graduated at the top of our class. She taught us the value of hard work. Mom worked all her life and did anything and everything she could to help her family, whether it be helping her dad with commercial fishing with her sister Deborah at a younger age, to being the post master for a number of years until her disability forced her to retire. Mom enjoyed baking, playing cards and bingo with friends and family. She especially enjoyed playing Scrabble with Mike. They would always accuse each other of cheating and arguing with each other saying, “That is not a word!” Mom always tried to help herself even though she was in a wheel chair. She did not beat around the bush, you could always rely on her to tell you exactly what was on her mind. Elsie leaves to mourn her special friend Mike Cook, whom she loved very much; her children Dennis (Randi) Daniels, Marilyn (Melvin) Daniels, Deidra (Ben) Daniels, Rachel Cook, and Marissa Cook; grandchildren Janine, Raylen, Odin, Jacob, Kolton, Peyton, Jaycee, Gavin; sisters Deborah (Claude), Mary (Douglas), Connie (Delbert), Pauline (Rodney), and Flora (Conrad); her only brother Bernard (Mary-Jane); cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention; aunties Edna (Ovide) Chartier, Muriel (Sidney) Brass; uncles Phillip Chartier Sr. Gideon (Jean) George, and Oliver George.; Godchildren Melanie George, Adam Young; as well as her friends. Elsie was predeceased by her parents Rose and Gideon Daniels; grandparents Rachel and Adam George, Catherine and Lazarus Daniels; aunties Helen George, Clara George, Vina Chartier, Camelia George, Flora (William) Campeau; uncle Brian George; nieces and nephews Roy Daniels, Angel Daniels, Conan Chartrand; cousin Sylvia Chartier; grandson Evan Young. If we forgot anyone it was not intentional. A special thank you to the nursing station staff, taxi drivers who always took our mom safely to and from her medical needs and also to the Dialysis Unit in The Pas, Manitoba. If friends so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation WAKE SERVICES Saturday, February 20, 2016 At the residence of Elsie Daniels, 68 Northside Road, Easterville, Manitoba Sunday, February 21, 2016 Easterville Community Hall, Easterville, Manitoba FUNERAL SERVICE Monday, February 22, 2016 2:00 pm Easterville Community Hall, Easterville, Manitoba Presiders: Rev.
