Eugene Harris Obituary

Eugene Allan Harris, known as Allan Merasty and Dancing Man in Big Eddy, was born Sunday, September 20, 1953 in The Pas, Manitoba. He received his education at Guy Hill Residential School near The Pas. As a young child growing up in Big Eddy, he was known as “Dancing Man” and that nick name stuck with him throughout his life. Allan always dressed in black as he didn’t want to draw attention to himself. He was a very quiet, laidback person. When he wanted to be a pest, he did that well, just to get a kick, when he pissed you off. Allan would laugh at his jokes because we would hear them over and over. Allan moved to Winnipeg in his early 20’s and he worked at Goodwill for 33 years. He was still working there and was very proud in what he did. He enjoyed working with his co-workers and always had nice things to say about them. He had a collection of stuffed monkeys which he would call “my family”. Allan passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 62 years. Allan will be sadly missed by his sisters Catherine “Sharon” Bear, Alice (Johnny) Sayese, Pauline (Kirk) Moore; brothers Billy (Mary) Merasty, Pierre “Sid” (Karen) Merasty of Prince Albert, SK, David (Patti) Merasty, Gerald Merasty of Saskatoon, SK.
