Fay Goudie THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Fay Goudie

Fay Caroline Goudie (nee Chartrand) passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 61 years. Fay born on Saturday, July 30, 1955 in The Pas, Manitoba, to Stanley and Clara Chartrand and was the second youngest out of six siblings born to Stanley and Clara Chartrand. She spent her younger years in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba until she was eleven years old and then she moved with her family to The Pas where she resided the rest of her life. Fay was united in marriage to Brian on July 29, 1972. Together Fay and Brian raised their son Brian Jr. (Chuggy) and daughters Jennifer and Joanne. Fay’s family was her prized possessions. She enjoyed watching her son play hockey and travelled near and far to watch his games. After Brian Jr. moved to the United States, she enjoyed her visits to see him and his family. She would always leave with an extra suitcase from all the shopping she had done on those visits. Fay enjoyed spending time with her daughters, Jennifer and Joanne, whether it was going on lunch dates, walks, swimming or teaching them how to bake or trying to pass on her “green thumb.” She was content in their company. Fay was a very proud grandma. She cherished all of her grandchildren and spoiled them. Her treat drawer was never empty when they would come to visit. She was always a very involved grandma and had a special bond with them that was clear to see when they were in a room together. Fay worked as a custodian at Kelsey School Division for over 30 years up to the time of her illness. What Fay loved most about her job was the interaction with the kids and being able to see her own children and then grandchildren Leah, Erika and Amanda everyday when they attended elementary school. Fay loved to dance, go for long walks with her husband around Ralls Island, swim and ice fish. But Fay’s real talent was her ability to grow anything! She had a beautiful garden, a well, landscaped yard full of fruit trees and blooming flowers all summer long. She also had a huge raspberry patch that she ran a U-Pick from for several years. Fay spent most of her summers canning, making jams, blanching and baking with all the food she had grown. Fay gave generously to her co-workers, friends and family all her wonderful creations from her garden. She also had started selling at the farmers’ markets. Fay also had a soft spot for animals. She always had dogs that she loved like they were part of the family. In her later years she found herself roped into her husband’s hobby of raising goats. She would become attached to the goats and name them. She would enjoy caring for the sick babies and would bottle feed them until they were healthy again. For the past five years Fay battled an illness with such courage; she never gave up hope and will be forever admired by her family for that. Fay was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she will be missed but will live on in the hearts of her family. She will be remembered fondly for all the wonderful things she shared and taught them along the way. Fay is survived by her loving husband of forty-five years, Brian; son Brian Jr. (Linda) and their children Maddox and Macyn; daughter Jennifer and her children Leah, Erika and Amanda; daughter Joanne (Will) and their children Hailey and Megan; brothers Keith, Wayne and Donny. Fay was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Clara Chartrand and her sisters Sharon and Debbie.
