Florence Settee

Peacefully with her family by her side, Florence passed Monday, February 8, 2010 at the age of 64 years at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers and sisters. Florence was born Monday, July 30, 1945 in The Pas, Manitoba to William and Margaret Head. Florence attended school at the Red Brick School and later on she attended KCC taking upgrading. She was united in marriage to Adam Settee, November 6, 1965 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral in The Pas. Even though she never had any children of her own, they adopted Beth “Skye” McGillivary who was Florence’s youngest sister, who they affectionately called “the Kid”. Florence was very saddened to hear the unexpected passing of Beth in December of 2008, she never got over this. Florence lived in many different places where her late husband worked as an electrician. They lived in the Northwest Territories, Thompson, Flin Flon, Winnipeg and The Pas, where they finally settled down. She also worked as a security guard at KCC and then started working at Clean Rite Cleaners for many years and continued to work there part time until her passing. She lived in the Northern View Lodge after the passing of her husband. Florence really loved animals and had a special cat called “Friday”. She was a Blizzard fan and in her early years she loved bowling, cribbage and playing the slots. We know that Florence is finally at peace with her loved ones who have gone on ahead of her. Florence is survived by her brothers and sisters Annie (Don) Corbett, Lena (Jon) Weenusk, Darlene (Bill) Kadachuk, Larry (Betsy) Head, Archie (Maryann) Head; sisters-in-law Nancy (Joe) Mink, Mary McKenzie, Hazel (Edward) Head, Della Settee and Sylvia Settee; numerous nieces, nephews and chapans.
