Frank Vipond THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Frank Vipond

Frank was born Friday, February 5, 1943 in Saskatoon, SK to Julia (Kauk) and Harry Vipond. When Harry returned from the war, the family moved to Togo, SK and lived there until Frank was 8 years old at which time the family moved to Kamsack, SK. In Kamsack, Frank’s little brother, Robert, was born in 1952. From here, the Vipond family moved to The Pas. Frank went to the Red Brick School and MBCI. During high school, Frank worked at Marshall Wells Hardware Company, a job he really enjoyed and discovered he liked working in sales. Frank left this job to pursue a salesman position with Western Grocers which gave him the opportunity to travel all over Northern Manitoba; his highlight was his trip to Churchill. Frank met Marjorie Gee and they were married in 1967. Linda Mae was born in March 1970 and then came Bryan Albert in May 1973. The family would spend many hours together ski-dooing, fishing, and enjoying time at the cabin at Clearwater Lake (which Frank helped build with family and friends). Frank left Western Grocers to take over ownership and operation of the Texaco Bulk Station for several years until it closed and he then went on to work at R.A.G. He then found employment at Beaver Lumber/Home Hardware where he worked for almost 30 years until his retirement on February 28, 2014. Frank truly enjoyed his work and the people he worked with; both his coworkers and the customers and contractors he saw daily. Frank enjoyed playing the guitar; you could often find him strumming on it for hours. He also had a true love and passion for woodworking; he taught himself how to work with wood and he made many beautiful china cabinets and various pieces of furniture for family and friends. Frank spent quite a bit of time at the rink over the years, watching Linda figure skate and Bryan play hockey as well as being involved with The Pas Minor Hockey Association. Frank and Marj were often found at the coffee shop together visiting with friends, which they truly enjoyed. Frank had a great sense of humour and loved to make people laugh, you could always find him telling a joke or story; he told the same joke many times and his repeated stories always had different endings. He would always laugh at this own jokes, mostly harder than anyone else. Frank passed away peacefully Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba, with family at this side. Frank leaves to mourn his wife Marjorie; daughter Linda (Brent); son Bryan (Marcela); grandchildren Brodie, Kyle, Noah and Hannah; his mother Julia; brother Robert (Shirley); sister-in-law Cindy (Frank); brother-in-law Alan; nieces and nephews Wendy (Shane), Ryan (Kelly), Alan Jr (Cherille), Trisha (Jeff), Tanis (Josh), Nick (Carmen), Joel (Maureen), Kali (Brian) and their families. Frank was predeceased by his father Harry Vipond; father-in-law Roger Gee; mother-in-law Norma Gee; sister-in-law Heather Gee and numerous aunts and uncles.
