Gary Lacombe Obituary

Gary was born in The Pas, MB Monday, April 29, 1940 to Mary (nee Davidson) and Paul Lacombe. Throughout his life he lived in many different places such as Wabowden, Lynn Lake, Flin Flon, Brandon, Weyburn, SK and The Pas. Gary led a very busy life working at a variety of jobs. Over the years, he worked for Saan Stores, Weston Bakeries, Modern Dairies, as an agent for Gardewine North, and several years hauling for Contractors here in town. Eventually he left trucking altogether and went on his own with his bobcat and sweeper, cleaning parking lots in town and doing various landscaping jobs. After a few years, Gary bid on the Dump Attendant job with Parks. He was awarded the contract for the Frog Creek Dump on the Moose Lake Road, which kept him busy for the next few years. He truly enjoyed his time chatting with everyone that came into the dump. His cabin at the lake was definitely his happy place. Summers were spent out there and once the water system was put in he spent his winters there as well. Gary was all about family. His three sons and grandkids were his pride and joy. In June 2016, Gary was diagnosed with cancer. At the end of August 2016, he needed to give up his contract as the Dump Attendant because of his health. On Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the age of 77 years, Gary lost his fight with cancer. Gary leaves to mourn his passing his three sons, Daryl (Pam), Jeff and Kevin (Sarah); his partner Crystal Gordanier; grandchildren Bret, Kate, Dylan, Jett, Zack, Chase and Erik. He also leaves his step-mother Idella Goodfellow; sisters Diane (Merv) L’Arrivee, Lorraine Lacombe; brother Greg (Angela) Lacombe; and step-sister Wendy Kalinchuk. In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate Gary’s life was held Friday, July 14, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Living Water Apostolic Church, The Pas, with James Hemauer presiding. A reception was held for family and friends at the Nor-Lite Hall, The Pas. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Pas and Area Animal Shelter, Inc., Box 4079, The Pas, MB, R9A 1S2, would be appreciated by Gary’s family.
