Hilda Young THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Hilda Young

Hilda, longtime resident of Young’s Point, Manitoba, was born Saturday, February 5, 1955 at The Pas, Manitoba to Helen and Edward Young. She was raised at Young’s Point and lived there until her passing. In her younger years, Hilda worked at the Gateway and Opasquia Manufacturing. Her life changed February 20, 1987 the day Dawna was born. It was Dawna and Hilda against the world. Hilda was a strong woman, with the kindest heart and the most stubborn at times. She was a survivor. She always put others first over herself. Hilda always had a family feast every Sunday and movie nights on Saturday. She enjoyed beading, making dream catchers, cooking and baking. Her cinnamon buns were the best! You could always find her in the food court at the mall playing her Bingo and Crossword scratchies. She would be cruising in her “car” leaving Dawna and Rita behind in a puff of dust down the IGA aisles. Mom always had dogs, her favorite was Ila, which was always by her side. Hilda really loved when friends and family would drop off wild meat. She would drive homecare crazy asking them to cook moose nose, moose brisket and duck soup. Right Rosalind? Hilda passed away peacefully, with her daughter Dawna by her side, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba at the age of 59 years. I’m going to miss you Nimama, my best friend, my hero, my life. I will always love you and you will forever be in my heart. Hilda leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Dawna; adopted brother Pat Young; sister-in-law Joan Constant; nieces Jennifer Young, Barbara (Morris) Morin; Angela (Wayne) Bercier; nephews Jason (Deanna), Larry (Savannah), Charlie Constant; great nieces Kaydence, Roberta (Brandon), Raylene, Mika, Kayla, Meagan, Hannah, Teri; great nephews Kaleb, Vincent, Morris III, Bryce, Skylar, Cole, Jason Jr., Lawrence; great, great niece Alaina.
