Jacquelene Borreson THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Jacquelene Borreson

Jacquelene was born Sunday, November 19, 1944 to Pauline and John Lokos in Outlook, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest child. At sixteen, Jackie went to work as a telephone operator in Morse, Saskatchewan and a couple of years later took over the telephone office in Hawarden, where she taught her mother how to be a telephone operator. When Jackie was twenty she took a secretarial course in Moose Jaw and married Willie at twenty one after she graduated. Together they lived in Outlook where she worked at the telephone office and Willie worked at the South Saskatchewan Dam. In 1968 they moved to Thompson, Manitoba where she ran the commissary and camp for 300 men. They then moved to The Pas, Manitoba in 1970 to start their own trucking business hauling logs. Together Jackie and Willie had two children Quinton who was born December 4, 1973 and Anita who was born November 13, 1976. Jackie and Willie operated the logging trucks for 25 years—Willie did the repair and maintenance and Jackie did the books. During that time she also worked at Petro Canada for 18 years. She also worked as a part time teller at the TD Bank as well as Swampy Cree Tribal Council and H&R Block. Jackie enjoyed being out of town on their acreage where she always enjoyed visiting with people when they came to get vegetables from their garden. She loved becoming a grandmother and spending time with her grandson. She also enjoyed gardening, travelling, going to the casino, visiting and on occasion voicing her opinion, especially on politics. Jacquelene passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home on Rall’s Island, at the age of 67 years. Jacquelene will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wilfred “Willie”; son Quinton (Alana); daughter Anita (Dennis) Boyd; grandson Ethan Boyd; brothers Les (Lorraine) Lokos, Marty (Marie) Lokos, Clayton (Lynn) Lokos, Noel (Annette) Lokos, Shane (Leslie) Lokos; sisters Elaine (Charles) Hubbs, Fran (Joe) Kammer, Beth (John) Moroz, Melanie (Garry) Book; and many nieces and nephews. Jacquelene was predeceased by her parents John and Pauline Lokos. In keeping with Jackie’s wishes, cremation took place and a celebration of her life was held Monday, April 2, 2012, 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, The Pas, Manitoba. A private family interment was held at Lakeside Cemetery, The Pas. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Pas Health Complex Foundation, Inc., Memorial Fund, Box 541, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K4, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated by Jackie’s family.
