Jean Baptiste Duval Obituary

Jean-Baptiste (John) Duval, formerly of Bellevue, Saskatchewan peacefully passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas, MB. John was born Saturday, November 25, 1933 in Bellevue to Jean-Baptiste and Françoise Duval. John was a dependable hard worker who took great pride in his work. He could fix anything out of nothing. John had a goofy, young at heart, edgy, sometimes inappropriate sense of humor and greeted the people that he liked with “Hi Boo Boo!” He loved being outside, gardening, and walking “Bijou” the dog. John will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, family and friends. His children; Micheline (Bob) Huber, Paul Duval (Ann) and Greg Duval (Katelyn) and his grandchildren Matthew, Dominique, Allison, Emily and Winnifred will always remember their dad and grandpa as someone who was a gentle, kind man who loved and cherished his family very much. He had a special place in his heart for his best friend, Lou Godin and will be greatly missed by her family. He is also survived by his three sisters Helene Griffin, Roberta Milne and Jeanne Leakos and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Jean, Maurice, Henri; and his sisters Thérèse, Denise, Simone and Margaret. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate John’s life was held Thursday, June 19, 2014, 7:00 pm, at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, Manitoba with Rev. Jack Herklotz presiding. Memories of the heart were shared by Ann Duval and Claudelle Godin. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Micheline Huber and Marielle Lewicky. A memorial service will also be held in the summer in his hometown Bellevue, Saskatchewan to celebrate his family roots. The family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor of St. Anthony’s Hospital for their wonderful care during dad’s stay at the hospital. If friends so desired, memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6.
