Jean Hein Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean Hein, Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 86 years. Jean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Friday, June 5, 1925 to John and Teenie Stonyk, who immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine in the early 1900’s.  Jean had two sisters and two brothers. Jean married Jim Hein and they had two children, Jamie and Janine. When they lived in Montreal, Jim was the manager of a printing plant and Jean was a Yoga teacher. They then moved to The Pas and together successfully ran the Alouette Hotel making many friendships along the way. Jean was an exceptional cook and baker.  Everyone loved her specialty, perogies and cabbage rolls. Her door was always open to family and friends and no one ever left her house hungry. She was a stay at home mom, raising Jamie to be the caring, loving person he is today. Jean's beautiful, bubbly personality was loved by all those she touched along the way. While we will miss you in so many ways, we will remember you in so many more. We love you mom. Jean will be sadly missed by her son Jamie; daughter Janine (Doug); grandchildren Meagan and Nabel and family, Jason and Jenn; great grandchildren Fatemah and Muhammad; and many family and friends. Jean was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters and her husband Jim. In keeping with Jean's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance to celebrate her life was held Thursday, February 2, 2012, 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home with Rev. Grahme Spear presiding. Music ministry was provided by Rochelle Rydberg. Jamie Hein shared memories of the heart and lead the Lord's Prayer. Following the service, everyone gathered at St. Paul's Personal Care Home for a time of fellowship and refreshment. If friends so desire, donations can be made to The Pas Association for Human Development – The Workplace, Box 32, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K3, would be appreciated by Jean’s family.
