Jennie King THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Jennie King

Jennie King’s last words were, “Mother, I am on my way.” For those who love Jennie so dearly, there is comfort in Jennie’s last words. She passed on peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at St Paul’s Personal Care Home, in The Pas, MB. Jennie joins her parents, husband, brother and other loved ones who are already with our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother. Jennie was born to Frank and Mary Suchy on Saturday, April 4, 1931 in The Pas, MB where she lived her whole life. Jennie Suchy was united in marriage to Clifford (Ticky) King on June 11, 1955 in The Pas at Christ Church. Jennie was confirmed in Christ Church in The Pas on May 27th, 1962. Her First Holy Communion was on June 3, 1962. Jennie worked with Natural Resources in the province of MB throughout her career. A co-worker of yesteryear, Stan Williamson used to talk about how he relied on Jennie’s judgment, common sense, and good humor. Jennie’s favorite season was winter. She was an avid ice curler and curled over several decades. She was pleased when she was awarded a Lifetime Honorary Membership with the Curling Club. She was a die-hard Huskies hockey fan, long after her beloved Ticky and her brother Tom played for her favorite team. She also loved watching the Blizzards play, and bought game tickets whether she was able to go or not. Jennie really enjoyed playing Canasta and having tea or lunch with her girlfriends. Spending time with friends and family, tending her flower garden, floating on the lake water with a cool Lemon Gin in her hand, watching family take photo after photo of the beautiful sunsets on the bay, musing over tiny toddlers and moody teenagers as she and Ticky watched their nieces and nephews grow up, one summer at a time. Jennie and Ticky spent their summers in their cabin on Clearwater Lake. When Ticky passed, Jennie continued to enjoy the lake for many years. In 2013, after a stroke Jennie moved into St Paul’s where she quickly settled in. Jennie never seemed to fuss over things. She graciously accepted the hand she was dealt, in Canasta and in life. Jennie was proud to have been recently awarded a Life Membership for her outstanding service as a Lion through the Pas Northern Lites. This honor was approved in June, 2013. Jennie also generously supported other local organizations and service clubs for her entire adult life. Jennie will be fondly remembered and missed by sisters-in-law, Betty Suchy of Red Deer; Vi Lagimodiere of The Pas, Valerie King and brother-in-law Richard King of The Pas. Auntie Jennie will be also be missed and lovingly remembered by Craig (Debra) Suchy of Sylvan Lake, AB; Carole (Cheryl) Suchy of Ottawa, ONT; Brenda (Doug) Gillespie of Red Deer, AB; Grant (Joanne) King of The Pas and Valerie King of The Pas, MB; Heather King (Rod) of Swan River, MB; Naomi (Clayton) Forsythe of Ottawa, ONT; Maureen (Bob) Murray of Kelowna, BC; Judy (Gerald) Nelson of Prince George, BC; Leslie (Barry) Hiebert of Winnipeg, MB; Mark (Fawn) Lagimodiere of Calgary, AB; and many precious nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
