John Phillips

On Tuesday, October 14th, 2014, dad passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD, at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba at the age of 84 years. During his struggle he kept his gracious manner and sense of humour, which he shared with everyone around him. Dad was born Wednesday, July 16, 1930 in Weldon, Saskatchewan. Jack is survived by his son Del (Kim) and his daughter Kathy (Harvey), adopted daughter Lyn (Michael) and grandchildren; TJ (Mandy), Shawna (Rodney), Nikki, Tracey, Dean, Vanessa and Ryan; great-grandchildren; Taylor, Hunter, Connor, Darren, and Amber. Jack will also be remembered by nieces and nephews Vivian and Frank, David and Valerie, Stanley and Barb, numerous other relatives in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, New Zealand and Australia; extended family Angie, Florence, Lea, Wilber, Little Angie, as well as his RCMP family and his longtime friends Alvin and Eleanor. The family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to his very special nurses and nurses’ aides at St Paul's Personal Care Home, he did have his favourites and you know who you are, Doc Marie, the nurses, doctors and staff at The Pas Health Complex. In keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance to celebrate his life was held Saturday evening, October 25th, 2014 at 7:00 pm, at Christ Church Anglican, The Pas, Manitoba with Rev. Rebecca Graham presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory of dad, to Slain Peace Officers Fund, Staff Relations Representatives Office, 3rd Floor-RCMP D Division, 1091 Portage Avenue, Box 5650, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3K2 or to the St. Paul’s Residents Equity Fund, c/o Activities, Box 240, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K4, would be appreciated by Jack’s family.
