Joseph Merasty Obituary

Joseph Isaac Merasty was born Thursday, March 4, 1926 at Southend, Saskatchewan. He received his education at residential schools. He married Kathleen Harris, January 17, 1955. He came to Big Eddy with his wife and son Allan and settled with in-laws at Pike Lake. Joseph Isaac passed away peacefully Monday, October 31, 2011 at the age of 85 years at Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his family. Joseph Isaac will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen; his children Eugene Allan Harris (Bernadette House) of Winnipeg, MB, William “Billy” (Mary Merasty) of Island Lake, MB, Catherine Bear (Sharon) of Saskatoon, SK, Alice (Johnny) Sayese of The Pas, MB, Pierre “Sid” (Karen Merasty) of Prince Albert, SK, David (Patti Merasty) of The Pas, MB, Gerald Merasty (Debbie) of Saskatoon, SK, Pauline (Kirk) Moore of The Pas, MB; and special friend Vinny (Nicole) Lathlin, which he also called son. Joseph will also be missed by his grandchildren Cheryl Darnchuk, Lindsay (Abdul) Merasty, Cheryl Merasty, Lisa (Bobbie) Bear, Brandon (Tanielle) Bear, Steve (Teri) Merasty, Jonathan Sayese, Tiffany (Jesse) Sayese, Mary Sayese, Melissa (Justin) and Michelle (Harley), Kayla, Kendall, Katelyn, Kassie and Keyanna, Freda, Tanya, Kathleen, Danielle, David Jr., Teemu, Jarrod, Nicholas, Charlie, Kirk Jr. and Conner; great grandchildren Noah, Jessie, Tashina, Kassie, Tyson, Jason, Alex, Rylee, Kaylee, Anisa, Kianna, Marcus, Halle, Dezlyn, Rainer, Kalem, Brookelyn, Capprianna, Andre. Joseph leaves to mourn his passing his sister Lucy Merasty from Surrey, BC; nieces Gloria Bird of Prince Albert, SK, Debbie, Janice, Tony and Micheal of Vancouver, BC, Marilyn Merasty of Calgary, AB; and numerous other relatives and friends from Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Joseph Isaac was predeceased by his parents Joseph Sidley Merasty and Elise Bird; brother Alexander Merasty; sister Suzette Merasty; step sister Evelyn McDonald; son Daniel Merasty; daughter Freda Merasty; mother-in-law Betsy Harris; father-in-law William Harris; brother-in-law John William Harris; sisters-in-law Mary Partridge, Bella Constant; great grandchildren Taija Merasty.
