Judith Millar THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Judith Millar

Julie was born in The Pas, Manitoba Saturday, May 30, 1942. She was the youngest daughter of Garnet and Bella Clark. Julie started her education in Cormorant and finished her schooling in The Pas after the family moved to their home on Bignell Avenue. After graduating from high school, Julie went to Red River Community College where she took nursing to become an LPN. Julie was a wonderful, kind-hearted, hard working and caring nurse. Over her career as a nurse Julie worked at the sanatorium at Clearwater Lake, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas and retired from nursing working at St. Paul’s PCH. In 1964 Julie met Jim Millar and they married on December 18th, 1965. They had two sons Eldon and Jason. In 1980 Jim and Julie bought Evergreen Lodge. While they had the Lodge, Julie worked briefly as a security guard at Clearwater Lake Airport before going back to nursing full time. After selling the Lodge, Julie and family moved to a small farm in the Carrot Valley where she lived the rest of her life. She loved her grandchildren very much and looked forward to their visits and to hear stories about them from Jason and Treasure. She enjoyed talking with Treasure, sharing the latest news about her family and shared acquaintances from The Pas. Julie enjoyed her time on the farm and liked planting a garden every year. Julie was very generous and would always share her vegetables with family and friends. Julie was a wonderful cook, although according to her husband, Jim, he had to teach her how to cook when they first got married. He did a great job because Julie made some incredible homemade soups, turkey potpies and desserts. Julie was always there to cook and provide for her family and after a good meal she was always heard to ask, “ How was it?” Julie passed away peacefully at Health Science Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with family by her side, Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the age of 75 years. Julie is survived by her sons Eldon, Jason (Treasure); grandchildren Ashleigh, Matthew and Callista; sisters Eileen Turner, Audrey Gareau; brother Gary (Lydia) Clark; brothers-in-law John de Hoop, David (Gladys) Millar, George (Valerie) Millar; sister-in-law Jean Scott; and many family members too numerous to mention. Julie was predeceased by her husband Jim; parents Garnet and Bella Clark; brother Raymond Clark; sister Shirley de Hoop; brothers-in-law Leslie Turner, Orville Gareau, Don Fischer, Peter Scott, John Millar; sister-in-law Barb Fischer; in-laws Angus and Margaret Millar; granddaughter Trea. In keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance was held Saturday, June 17, 2017, 1:00 pm, at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, with James Hemauer presiding. Following the service a luncheon was held for family and friends at the Christ Church Parish Hall, The Pas. Honorary Pallbearers were Shirley Grosky, Sylvia Hengemuehl, Isabelle Kohn Ashleigh Beecham, Matthew Millar, Callista Millar. If lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7, would be appreciated by Julie’s family.
