Kenneth Stewart Wendell Baird THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Kenneth Stewart Wendell Baird

Husband, father, grandfather and friend to many Ken Baird, 65, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home in Snow Lake, Manitoba.  Ken was an integral part of his community… a caring and generous teammate, a man who would lend a hand when needed, share a welcome joke or story, feather that perfect pass to a player in the open, or offer encouraging words from the stands.     Ken’s purpose in life was his family and hockey… in that order.  His wife, daughter, grandchildren, and family were his enduring love, and hockey was the occupation and pastime that kept him grounded while fueling the many stories he was known and loved for.     Ken met his loving wife Uschi in 1980 while playing hockey in Duisburg, Germany. They were married September 10, 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark.  The couple returned to Canada and eventually moved to Snow Lake where Ken was employed with HBM&S.  Their marriage was blessed by the arrival of a daughter, Amber, on November 8, 1984.     Ken leaves to morn his wife Uschi, daughter Amber (Tyler) Samborski, two grandchildren; a brother Dave (Shirley), a sister Elly Grosskleg (Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews.  He has gone to rest with infant son Kevin Patrick and parents Roy and Helen Baird.  He will be forever remembered as fine man, a friend to all, and a great guy to have on your team.
