Kenneth Merasty

Kenneth was born Sunday, September 17, 1972 in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Kenny spent his childhood in Pukatawagan MB, Leaf Rapids MB, Prince George BC and Ottawa ON. Kenny spent most of his adult life in Manitoba and frequently visited the northern communities to spend time with loved ones such as family and friends. Kenny’s frequent travelling contributed to his artwork, as he was a passionate artist. Kenny has always been creative and artistic and he specialized in traditional aboriginal art incorporating wildlife, landscapes and our people in his works. Kenny’s artwork has been displayed and sold nationally. He has created logos for various national aboriginal organizations. He has also created web pages and used his artwork within those websites. Kenny was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Kenny was loved by children who would often gravitate towards him as his warm and kind character was always present. Kenny took care of those around him and valued his loved ones. Kenny was not concerned about material things but nurturing the relationships in his life. Kenny was carefree, loving and warm and never passed judgment on anyone. Kenny was loved very much by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Kenny passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, age 37 years. Kenny is survived by brothers Jean Pierre Umphrey, Jeremiah Hunt; sisters Naomi Umphrey, Ocean Umphrey, Lisa Hunt; fathers Norman Hunt and William Umphrey; grandparents Marie Louise Merasty and John Merasty; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews. Kenny was predeceased by his mother Theresa Umphrey; and numerous family members.
