Kenneth Nyuli

Ken was born Saturday, August 6, 1949 to Eugene and Marion (nee Halverson) Nyuli in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. His ancestry was of Hungarian and Norwegian descent. Ken resided in Bjorkdale until the age of 3, when he moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba with his parents and older sister Lorna. He lived in Flin Flon until 1983 when he moved to the “farm” in Wanless. Ken started working for Modern Dairies when he was 14 years old and later purchased a 1/4 section of land from his grandfather at Bjorkdale with the part-time job he had at Modern Dairies. Ken also work for Arctic Beverages, Scorpio Bearing and the CN in Flin Flon. He also drove truck for Rick and Mike Petryk out of Cranberry Portage. Ken worked for Dan and Diane Madarash as a mechanic for Dan’s Mobile Repair, until his death. In between, Ken and his dad bought a farm in Wanless. Ken and Betty also owned and operated the bus depot in Cranberry Portage for a short time. Ken met Betty Willan and her two children in 1982 and were married January 7, 1983, at The Pas. Ken had a great love for animals of all kinds especially his two dogs (Buddy and Honey). One of the many passions of Ken’s was to feed the deer that gracefully crossed his “farm”. Ken was a member of a tractor club in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. He was an avid collector of tractors as well as tools of all kinds. Ken was a jack of all trades. Whether it be mechanics, plumbing or carpentry. Ken passed suddenly and peacefully at home, Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the age of 61 years. Mourning Ken’s loss are his wife of 28 years, Betty; daughter Tami (Don) Hicks and their children Christopher, Maggie, Josh and Jimmy; daughter Lori (Kelvin) Dionne and their children Chelsey and Shawna; his mother Marion; sister Lorna (Ray) Martin; nieces and their families; Tammy (David) and their children Brianna and Brett, Shauna (David) and their children, Gage and Kaylee, and Lisa (Rob) and their children Kaira and Kain; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ken was predeceased by his father Eugene Nyuli (November 21, 1996); father-in-law William James; mother-in-law Dorothy James. In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate Ken’s life was held Saturday, February 19, 2011, 11:00 am at the Chapel of Hemauer Funeral Home with James Hemauer presiding. Following the service friends and family gathered at the Wanless Community Church, for a time of fellowship and refreshment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Precious Pet Kennels Spay and Neuter Fund, Box 539, The Pas, Manitoba, R9A 1K6.
