Larry Flett THE PAS, Manitoba Obituary

Larry Flett

Larry was born Monday, March 1, 1948 in The Pas, Manitoba. He spent half his life on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. He then met his wife Darlene and married on November 24, 1968. Together they were blessed with 4 daughters, Debbie, Daphne, Corrina and Lenora. They both raised two of their grandchildren, Kayla and Colten. As a child, Larry moved and resided with his uncle John Lathlin and auntie Helen in Carrot River, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba, along with his sister Mary and adopted sister Sylvia, whom he loved as his very own sisters. Later on in life Larry ventured out west to British Columbia with his wife Darlene whom he called “Mama” and his daughter Debbie. He resided in many places until he found a permanent home for his family in Williams Lake, BC. Larry was kind hearted in many ways. He was always smiling and spreading his love to his family. He also loved joking around with his sisters the late Sally, Lillian, Alice, Mary and Sylvia. He enjoyed spending special occasions with his wife, children and grandchildren. His grandchildren will sadly miss him dearly. Larry received his education at Big Eddy Day School and Carrot River School and then continued his education in The Pas. He then started working as a bush firefighter. He also worked for CNR Extra Gang and did construction work in The Pas Area. He found employment with KCC (now UCN) for a period of time until he moved west. While in BC, he worked at sawmills and construction companies building forms and pouring cement for sidewalks and driveways. He was always on the go and was a man of all trades. Ask him to fix something he will do it. Larry loved hunting, camping and cutting firewood. He had a lot of hunting trips with his son-in-law Doug. That is something Doug will never forget and there were so many good times. Larry became ill 10 years ago at Enderby, BC. He then resided at Williams Lake Senior Village at Williams Lake, BC. Larry passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 with his family by his bedside at William’s Lake Senior Village, BC. Cremation took place Friday, June 8, 2012.
