Leona Joyce “Kelly” Constant was born Thursday, September 4, 1969 to the late Leonard “Mickey” and Lena Constant at St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Pas, Manitoba. Kelly was blessed with 3 beautiful children Allan, Samantha and her baby Karl.

Kelly resided in The Pas and Opaskwayak Cree Nation until she moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba, where she called home. Kelly fought an outrageous battle with her sickness (Lupas) for the past 19 years. Kelly passed away peacefully, with family by her side, Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 46 years.

Kelly was always happy to take part in all family gatherings, mostly when it came to singing as a group with her siblings. All siblings were a teaching from her late father Mickey.

Kelly would travel through The Pas when she travelled to Winnipeg for medical appointments. She made a point to stop and visit with her mom even if only for a half hour.

Kelly had a great passion for everyone she met and would greet them with a hug and kiss. She was a very compassionate, loving and caring auntie with her nieces and nephews.

Kelly found her grandpa, Sam Head, whom she loved and cherished. She didn’t want to share him with others, she would say, “That’s my grandpa!”

Kelly will be deeply missed and remembered by her children Allan, Samantha, Karl (Val); grandchildren Ashton, Shanty, Charlie, Emma-Rae, Brae-Lynn, Tristin, Rocquell; mother Lena Constant; brothers “Lucky” Dave, Bruce (Rita), Wayne (Carol), Ralph (Alice), Corny; sisters Mary Jane (late Rev. Doug Highway), Ella (Walter), Donna (Bill), Audrey (Herman); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.

Kelly was predeceased by her father Leonard “Mickey” Constant; brothers Derek, Ralph, Monty; grandparents John Charles and Maria Jane Constant, Noah and Susan Nasekapow; Godparents Lawrence “Crow” Whitehead and Elizabeth Bird; in-laws Charlie and Louise Church; and numerous close relatives.

Kelly’s children, brothers, sisters and mom would like to express their sincere gratefulness for being there and supporting them through their journey as they say their farewell to their loved one during her last days. Thank you to Dr. Hitchen and staff at HSC, James “Bigman”, Andrea, Leeah, Taylor, Linden, Kara and Ada. Thank you.
