Leonard was born Friday, October 10, 1958 in The Pas, Manitoba and was raised in The Pas for most of his life. Leonard was the ninth child born to Laurent and Florence Blouin. He came out ready to gain the upper hand on his brothers and sisters. Leonard attended Sacred Heart School, he attended catechism classes and eventually became an alter boy. A short lived...Career. Then came the Red Brick School, Opasquia School, and Margret Barbour Collegiate. Leaving his mark, at each one of these institutions. Attending Keewatin Community College, and then onto Assiniboine Community College in Brandon. Throughout his developing career, Len worked for Duncan’s repair, at Jenpeg Hydro Dam, The Pas Health Complex, CNR, and finally Hudson Bay Railway until he injured his hand. During harvest time in the valley, he would head over to the farm and help out driving truck, moving equipment from one field to the other, or just sit and shoot the shit with the crew on hand. He especially loved honing in on his buddy Knut Christianson or some other unsuspecting newcomer to the farm. Leonard touched many lives from young to old. But the most precious and important were his sons Ryan and Adam. He truly loved his boys and they were his pride and joy. Len gave them everything he could, but most important he gave them his love and humour and (unknowingly his shorts and socks too...). Travelling to and from Winnipeg, for medical treatments, Len met Judy and a long distance love affair began to develop. Over the next few months, they would spend hours talking to each other over the phone. On a special occasion, when Len was in the city, they danced in the street, giddy as could be. Len was in love. He had found his companion, the woman of his dreams who could handle all he had to give. Len finally convinced her to move to The Pas. Len and Judy were married August 22, 2009 at the farm. Leonard loved hunting, fishing and socializing with his family and friends. He loved making memories and entertaining. He enjoyed keeping his family and friends on their toes. His nickname was “Boris Bozoloski, from Slobovia Hagar”. He was born to be a comedian, and a comedian he was. He could make you laugh so hard, you were brought to tears. He also liked to adlib songs putting in his own version or paraphrases. As time passed, Len remained at home as much as possible. In the evenings, rainy days or just quite days, he enjoyed watching war shows and his favorite TV series Dead Wood, wrapped up in his comfy chair in the living room. Len loved his animals. They were a source of comfort for him, when Judy was at work and he was home alone. He would spoil his dog Baxter and their three cats Maxx, Sasha and Toby. Baxter being one of his greatest companions, would get the special treats. Len passed away peacefully, with his wife Judy, family and friends, by his side, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Center, at the age of 56 years. Len leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Judy Blouin; his sons Ryan Koop-Blouin (Kate Iles) and Adam Koop-Blouin; grandson Jace Clayton Koop-Blouin; brothers Richard Blouin, Lawrence Blouin and Mark (Kim) Blouin; sisters Georgette (Dave) Krochak, Paulette (Ian) Pratt, Doreen (Edwin) Jessup, Jackie Leclerc, and Florence Grabauskas; numerous nieces and nephews. Len was predeceased by his parents Laurent and Florence Blouin; brother Roger and sisters Bernice and Lucille. In Keeping with family wishes, cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance was held Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, The Pas with James Hemauer presiding. Immediately following the service, a time of refreshment and fellowship was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall.
