Leslie Lowe Obituary

As the sun rose at approximately 7:20 am on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 Leslie John Lowe, loving husband of Agnes Lowe, passed away peacefully with his daughters Valerie and Rosie at his side. He was 68 years old. He was born in Birch River, MB to Bill and Mamie Lowe on Thursday, March 2nd, 1944. Leslie was united in marriage to Agnes Agecoutay on September 30th, 2000. He leaves to mourn his wife Agnes; his children Douglas (Audrey), Valerie (Milton), Leslie Jr. (Tanya), Rosie (Nelson) and his grand-daughter Brittany which he raised as his own. He also leaves behind his sidekick Tiny for his boy Kayden to take care of. Leslie had 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren that he enjoyed sharing stories and giving treats. He always made sure they were in his sight and he loved it when they would come to visit. Leslie is also survived by his brothers Earl (Nancy), Gordon (Linda), Greg (Donna), Manny (Angie); and his sisters Hilda (Bill), Norma (Bob), Twilla (Jeff), Sister (Fred), and his special “Chickey”. Leslie is also survived by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Leslie is predeceased by his parents Bill and Mamie Lowe and his brother and sister-in-law Russell and Mavis Lowe. Leslie lived a majority of his life in Mafeking, MB. He was a hard worker and made sure his family was provided for. He retired from the Department of Natural Resources in June 2009 and continued to make contact with the many friends he made throughout the years. During the winter months he enjoyed breaking trails with the ski-doo and was always outside tinkering around. In the summer you would find him crusin’ up in the hills with Mah’ and the dogs. People always knew it was Leslie if he was going for mail, hauling wood, visiting Sister or going to get his special “coffee” at the late Reg Doan’s Store by his vibrant seasonal dressed attire and toque. At home, Leslie would relax by watching the “Idiot Box” until the late hours of the night. He always had a piece of chocolate or bag of Cheezies by his side. And if you were hungry he made sure you had your fill of homemade “chips” or donuts. Our Dad had his own unique persona that attracted many people from all walks of life through playing tricks, showing off his many treasures such as his collection of photos and memories of his special journey through life. He was idolized by men, young and old and let’s not forget about the girls. He gained many of his nicknames such as Little Lou, Lou Dockens, Carrot Top, Lou Chaconie and the Fonz. ˜™ INFORMAL FAREWELL FOR LESLIE Monday, October 8, 2012 6:00 pm—10:30 pm Mafeking Legion Hall Mafeking, Manitoba FORMAL CELEBRATION OF LESLIE’S LIFE Tuesday, October 9, 2012 11:00 am Mafeking Legion Hall, Mafeking, Manitoba Presider: Mrs. Fran Barron —– If friends so desire, donations to the Firefighters Burn Fund, 303 – 83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4J9, would be appreciated by Leslie’s family.
