Linda Cora Mary Hatch Obituary

Linda Hatch of Cold Lake, Manitoba passed away peacefully, with family by her side, Saturday, December 26, 2015, at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home, The Pas, Manitoba, at the age of 97 years.

Linda was born Wednesday, August 14, 1918, at Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of six brothers and one sister. At the age of eleven, the family moved to Cold Lake, Manitoba.

Linda was united in marriage to William “Bill” Hatch, June 27, 1936 at Cold Lake, Manitoba and together they raised their six children; Phyllis, Barbara, Norine, Sharron, Bill and Dennis.

Throughout her life, Linda was a strong woman and assisted her husband with trapping and commercial fishing ventures often taking her to places such as Granville Lake, Manitoba. She was also an excellent cook and many visitors to Cold Lake could not pass her house without stopping by for a cup of coffee and a piece of blueberry pie. She enjoyed having visitors, sharing stories, playing cards and going on shopping trips.

She will be greatly missed. Linda is survived by her children Barbara, Norine, Bill and Dennis; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Linda was predeceased in death by her husband Bill; daughters Phyllis and Sharron; and all her seven siblings.

In keeping with family wishes, cremation took place and a service of remembrance to celebrate Linda’s life was held Wednesday, December 30, 2015, 1:00 pm, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Pas, Manitoba, with Father Robert Laroche presiding. Music ministry was provided by Rochelle Rydberg. Memories of the heart were shared by Barbara Easterling and Terry Hatch.

Immediately following the service, a reception was held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, The Pas, Manitoba. A private family interment will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10—120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 9Z9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200—310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 0S6, would be appreciated by Linda’s family.
