Linda Spence

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Spence, aged 69 of Opaskwayak, Manitoba at the Rod McGillivary Care Home on Thursday, September 28, 2017, with family and friends by her side. Mom was the second oldest of the five children born to the late, Jim and Hilda Young. Mom met Simeon Spence in 1964 during the Northern Manitoba Trapper’s Festival and were married on June 21, 1967. Mom and Dad recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were blessed with five children. Mom worked at various jobs: Brandon Personal Care Home (H.C.A), Manfor (food preparation), Opasquia School (Custodian) and St. Paul’s Personal Care Home. She left the workforce to tend to her late son’s, Simeon “Jr.” medical needs as Jr. battled with Kidney disease. Mom enjoyed singing at wakes, playing her guitar, square dancing, polka waltzes, playing baseball, bingo, making bannock, visiting family and friends and especially with her grandchildren. Mom was most passionate about paddling as she loved participating in canoeing events. Mom had fond memories with her paddling partners: Louise Ballantyne, Suzette Young and the late Edna Constant. Mom would say that her and Suzette were now “Retired Champions!”. Mom was always be lovingly remembered by her husband, Simeon Spence; children, Scott (Denise Sanderson) Spence, Lisa (Darren) Campbell, Leah (Craig) Constant; grandchildren, Lacey Moran, Janice Lathlin, Kristen Moran, Gunner Spence, Steven Spence, Edward Spence, Madison Campbell, Darren (D.J.)
